New to Friedens?
Who We Are
A Gospel-Centered Community
Our focus is on Jesus and what He has done for us through His life, death, and resurrection. The “Gospel” is the good news that Jesus has redeemed us, is renewing us, and ultimately will restore all things. At Friedens, we strive to keep the Gospel at the center of everything we do. Growing as Followers of Christ
What is Friedens’ goal? It’s simple: we want to grow as followers of Christ. Friedens has people from all sorts of backgrounds, who are all at different places in their spiritual journey; none of us have "arrived" yet at full spiritual maturity. Yet our common bond is a desire to grow as followers of Christ. To help us grow as Christ-followers, we often use a diagram called the UP-IN-OUT Triangle. For more information on the UP-IN-OUT Triangle, please click here.
A Rich Heritage
Friedens was founded in 1854 by a group of German immigrants (“Friedens” means “peace” in German). Since then, the people of Friedens have remained faithful to the Gospel and the Bible, and we continue to see God at work in our midst today.
We enjoy being a part of the EFCA. The EFCA is a fast-growing movement of 1500+ autonomous churches throughout the country that are centered around the Gospel and the Bible. For more information, visit www.efca.org.
A Desire to Make a Difference
One of the exciting things about Friedens is that we aren’t satisfied with going through the motions of “doing church.” We strive to generously share God’s love with the world around us. For instance, we partner with a dozen missionaries around the world. We also emphasize adoption and orphan care, particularly through our Forever Families ministry. In addition, we are involved in service projects and missions trips, all with the goal of helping more people experience the amazing reality of knowing Christ and connecting with His family.
